Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo! On it fall on taco Tuesday.  What a great year well except that we are in isolation and cannot properly celebrate.  I got to play golf and facetime with my taco crew.

I was so excited to randomly get out to play. I was not going to play but I saw sun and didn't want to work anymore.  I started the round by myself but joined up with another single. The groups in front were a little slow.  It was nice to play someone.  The first 7 holes I was hitting a bunch of balls.  I played well on the back.  I shot -1 from the white tees.  I was shocked.  The white tees on the back nine are a little shorter than the front.

My outfit was a quick put together because I was not originally going to play.

The bottoms are two in ones from Athleta.  This is the first pair I ever got.  They are so comfortable.  And it was great because it was cooler today.  Around high 50s, low 60s.  When I say I love these bottoms, I wear them all the time.  The black with a little silver print.  I got the bottoms for approximately $50 about 4-5 years ago. They are great.  The logo is peeling a little but mostly because I wear them all the time.  Athleta has not had them on their lines for awhile.  They need to bring back.  I would pay for them.  The bottoms are a medium.  Like I stated for my other pair, I have mediums.  They are a little big for me now. However, I love them.

My top is a Under Armour with black piping that says Penn State.  The top is a small.  It fits well.  I do not know how I got the shirt, if I bought it or got it as a gift.  Oh well, I wear it.  When I went online polos for women that are Under Armour range from $50-$75.  That is expensive. If it was on sale I would get.

The sweatshirt is Under Armour.  The size is medium.  It is a comfy comfy sweatshirt.  I would not normally wear this to play golf.  It is wide neck and I wear with tanks.  However, it was sitting out and I grabbed it wear.  I needed it today.  The sweatshirt was a gift from a friend who works for Under Armour.  She knew I loved pink and got this for me.  Sweatshirts for Under Armour start around $50 and go up. I would probably wear this sweatshirt again on the course.

Manic Monday

Back to work.  Well back to my living room to work.  No golf today :(.   Busy day working. I was going to try to play after work but time was not on my side.  Also, it got cold and windy.  I really did not want to battle the elements today.  And a day off is good.

No fancy golf duds today.  I was in my usual work at home athleisure couture.  One good thing about working from home is the easy of clothing.  No thought needed when no one sees you.

I was thinking about writing about golf dresses but my excited changed when I saw I will be able to watch golf again.  Rory/DJ vs. Rickie/Wolff golf match for COVID-19 relief in the TaylorMade Driving Relief.  Are you excited?  May 17 from 2-6pm golf will be live from Seminole Golf Club, a course normal people never get to play.  I am more excited that there is some golf  to watch than researching golf dresses.  I think I will have to get dress up or golf dressed to watch (poor joke here). The contenders full names: Rory McIlroy, Dustin Justin, Rickie Fowler, and Matthew Wolff. DJ is athletic, beautiful, but dull (interviews all the same, ah yeah).  Rory is well spoke and put together with lots and lots of freckles.  Rickie is fun and out going just short (who care when you can bomb it).  Who is the Wolff guy?  Just kidding. Young stud finding his place on tour.  Plus he has the best last name just spelled wrong. All the golf commentators will be back well back talking via cameras in their homes across the country.  Can't wait to hear Zingers obnoxious sarcastic one liners.  If only NBC could get Johnny back for one day, golf would feel complete and like old.

My viewing outfit thought:  all black Adidas with a flash of white for the viewing attire. I have this, can't wait to share and I bought it to channel my inner DJ.  Totally supporting the Rory/DJ group.  Yes 30+ age golfers! Age before beauty.

Hoping work goes smooth so I can hit the links tomorrow afternoon.

Sunday is for Golf

Third day in a row.  Who would have thought?! I played Northampton Country Club.  I was worried getting there the weather was going to be bad.  I live about 30 minutes away.  It was about mid-60s when I left for my morning tee time.  As I started getting closer it was getting more overcast. However, it was nothing, just some clouds. It got to be warm at 80.  Well, I think it was warm.  Have not felt temperatures like that in awhile.

My wedge game was crap today.  I could not chip.  I need a new wedge but I do not have the money to spend on it right now.  I probably need all new irons but I really do not have the money for a whole new set of irons.  My irons are from 2010.  I have Ping i15.  So it has been good while for new clubs for me.  I did get an Epic Driver two years ago and a TaylorMade Spider putter. My fairwoods are from high school.  I have a hard time letting go of clubs and now I just do not have the money.  Oh well it happens.  I can still play well with what I have.

Fair warning my angles suck for pictures and the skorts I did not want to wear or did not match are in the background.  My pictures are very real life.  See a vacuum in the one 😋😋

I wore a sleeveless shirt today from Puma.  I love the colors.  It is like a teal blue color with pink piping. The logo is obnoxious.  I got the shirt at Windber Country Club in Salix, PA. Last summer, I played in a team event representing Sunnehanna.  I won low gross and my team won the championship.  We got shop credit.  I did not know what I wanted. The shop had a lot of cute women's items and I wanted something unique.  The shirt is the summer wear and his the breathable material with the micro holes and moisture wicking.  I did not have to buy the shirt but they usually retail about $50 for the sleeveless shirt.  I also picked it out because of the mock neck with a zipper.  I do not have a lot of shirts like that and I thought it would be good to add to my closet. A unique top with a lot of unique features. I typically always wear it with black bottoms.  It is tough to match with bottoms. My top is a size small.  I like it because it is form fitting but not tight.

My cover is a 3/4 length golf shirt by Adidas.  I bought the shirt at the US Women's Mid-Amateur played at Kahkwa Country Club in Erie, Pa. It was my third Mid-Am, I qualified.  I was very excited to be back at Kahkwa.  I previously qualified to play the US Women's Amateur at the same course in 2004.  It was funny to be back 12 years later for another USGA Championship. The few times I pay full price for a shirt is at tournaments I qualify.  Adidas long sheet are approximately $50-$60 for Adidias.  I paid I believe $60. I love this shirt.  It is blend but feels like cotton.  I do not wear stripes often.  I like the way the shirt looks and feels on.  Today I had it untucked because I was wearing it as a pullover.  That is a great thing about long sleeved polos, you can wear as pullovers if needed.  On a day like today when it will get warm quickly but you need something for the morning.  My pullover is a small.  I think the small runs big.

My skort is Jofit skort.  It is similar to the current belted golf skort on their website. I got the skort when I played for the Pennsylvania team for the last ever USGA Women's State Team Golf Championship in Sante Fe, New Mexico.  All of our clothing that week was JoFit and was provided for us for the week.  I have a top that is Jofit that went with the skort but I felt like mixing it up with the Puma.  My skort is a size 2.  Jofit I think always runs big.  So always size down or do not be afraid to size down.  The skort has side and back pockets. The side pockets have zippers.  The side zippers have JoFit logo hanging down.  In the wash the one tab fell off but you can't tell whilel wearing unless pointed out and it is not enough for me to rotate out of the wadrobe.  I like the material and the movement of the skort.  It is taylored well and fits a hippy women's like me.  It does not feel tight on my hips like some skorts can do.  Not too long and not too short.  I sometimes think the skorts from Jofit run long on me and make me look short and dumpy.   Jofit can be expensive.  At full price a skort like the one I have on can cost you up to $90.  I like Jofit but I only get the items with shop credit or on sale. I like the length on the skort, too.

Not sure if I am going to play golf tomorrow. My feet are a little swollen.  As we move forward when I am not playing golf, I will review and talk about golf fashions.  What can we wear but can't we wear.  When the tours begin again, we will look at what the pros are wearing.

Hear is to a beginning of a new week and more golf and more fashion.

Golf Day 2!

It was the most beautiful day.  Blue skies and perfect temperatures.  Golf course were packed with people.  It was a good day to be a golfer.  My swing started to feel better.  I played the forward tees and shot a -1 71. One under feels so much better.  The courses is a little short from the front tees but it is good to play a comfortable distance when restarting.  The courses was incredible shape.  Walking down the first hole I was so happy. The grass felt so good under my feet.  I enjoyed seeing all the blooms and leaves coming to the trees.  Finally felt like spring with light winds and temperatures in the 70s.  You would have never known that yesterday we had over a inch a rain.  Didn't even need to roll the ball in the fairways.

The picture does not do the pink of the tree off the 11th green justice
The greatest social distancing contraption ever

Because of the new normal with COVID-19, golf has social distancing measures.  Golf is a great social distancing sport but it still needs some help.  I walk like always but we cannot touch things. The video show the ball release contraption.  I have seen the noodles cut and put in the hole but this is the first time I saw the pull retriever.

Now on to the outfit...

So today I decided to show some leg for the first time.  I remember to add the sunscreen. I chose school spirit for today's round.  I work at East Stroudsburg University and the school's colors are red and black.

The top is a red Antigua shirt.  I am not a red fan on me.  I just feel like red makes me stand out too much.  It looks great on Tiger Woods and I am glad it is his thing.  Red is not my thing.  I got the shirt at Indiana Country Club after winning a golf outing.  The event was at the end of the season and there was not much to choose from in the pro shop.  Retail the shirt would be approximately $40-$60.  The shirt is a simple cut women's polo with color and buttons.  A basic golf shirt.  I would not normally pick the shirt out but did due to having to use the shop credit I bought it.  I honestly rarely wear the shirt.  The shirt is comfortable and easy to breathe with Antigua's version of wicking material. I go a size small. I typically wear it tucked in but can be worn not tucked.  The shirt is two years old.  Fun fact about the outing that day, there was a partial solar eclipse that occurred at the end of the round.  The tournament gave us glasses to view the eclipse.  The sky was such a unique color.

My pullover is a Under Armour pullover.  The logo is the ESU with Warrior.  The shirt is not the typical wicking material you associate Under Amour but cotton. The shirt is so soft. I love the feeling.  I wanted the pullover for work to wear to games because it is black.  I waited until it went on sale.  Last summer I got the pullover with another tank at a buy one get one free event in the school bookstore.  The bonus of the pullover is I can wear it to play golf.  The pullover is a size small.  I think it is the perfect length.  Not too long and not too short.  The pullover is light weight and great for days like today.  The pullover was off as soon as we started moving but I needed it at the end of the round when the sun started dipping.

The bottom is a yoga skort by Soybu.  Soybu is not a golf clothing company but the skorts move so well.  Soybu is active wear so you know the skort will move well on the course.  The size I have on is a medium.  It depends on the skort which size I would get.  I have a couple of Soybu skorts and they are a mixture of small and medium.  The skort does not have pockets which is a major drawback but I still love it and wear it all the time.  I got the skort at TJ Maxx for $19.99 two or three years ago.  The price was great. I thought I would add a pocket after watching a video on how to add a pocket but never have.  I put my tees in my ponytail a lot of times anyway so I do not use a pocket a lot.  My ball marker is typically the clip on my hat.  I also like wearing this skort because I do not have to worry it is too short.  I typically play at a country club with some clothing etiquette rules.  I do not have to worry about that with this skort. If you bought the skort directly for Soybu it would cost your between $50-$60.  The bargain hunter that I am, typically found Soybu at TJ Maxx for under $20.  I do think after time the skort is showing wear over time but not enough for me to pull it out of rotation.

Last but not least my hat.  I totally forgot my hat yesterday.  Today I wore a red Under Armour hat that is women's cut.  The team I am support is Field Hockey.  The team gave me the hat as a welcome gift last year when I first started my job.  Again I would not typically choose a red hat but who am I to say no to support a team?  I prefer the women's cut hat.  They sit so nicely and do not cover my ears.

Tomorrow is day 3 of golf!  Another beautiful sunny day ahead.  I think there will be more leg out there.

GOLF IS BACK!!!

My golf is back and you're going to be in trouble. Not really but I am going to be out of the office  more :).  My swing was garbage but who cares.  I am swinging again.  The course was a soggy mess. When I left the course, it looked like I had a sock tan of mud.

The 10th tee at Glenbrook Golf Club in Stroudsburg, PA Par 3 play 170 today

The weather ended up being so nice. The rain and clouds disappeared and we got mid to high 60s.  Loved it.  I played the white tees today.  Shot a crappy 80. Blah, I do not like being in the 80s.  Oh well, I guess that happens when you have not swung a club in over 40 days.

So the reason you are here.  What did I wear.  Check it out.  Heads up, I am not a photographer.  I am not good at angles and you can barely see it.  Hopefully, I get better as I go :).

Today I chose to wear my two in one leggings and skort from Athleta.  I got these leggings about 5 years ago and I love them.  I have two pair. The pair I have on today have a ruching up the sided.  There is a back pocket for tees and ball markers.  I want them to bring the leggings back.  I wish leggings were allowed on the course but this is my way of sneaking them on the course :). I believe I paid about $40 for the leggings.  Well worth the price but at the time I was like why am I paying this much.  I have a size medium on but they are a little big.  I have lost some weight since I bought them.  However, they have draw string thing in the waste to tighten. If I would buy today, I would get the small.  They have not] peeling and hardly looked wore. The value and quality are great for the price.

My golf shirt is a long sleeved collar shirt from Levelwear.  The logo is Sunnehanna Country Club (my home course and the course I grew up on).  This is one of my favorite long sleeve golf shirts.  I am wearing a small.  It stays tucked into my bottoms but if you wanted to wear untucked it will look good, too.  It has moisture-wicking material with these cooling holes.  I like it because it is great for all weather.  I like that when it is warmer today, I did not feel hot.  I got this shirt at the end of 2018 season at the pro shop end of year sale with my shop credit so great deal for me! The shirts from Levelwear are typically about $50-$75.  I do not know if I would spend that much.  I am a bargain shopper for golf :).  However, the shirt is good quality.  The label inside is peeling off a little but I think that is due to my care.  I did put in the dryer a couple of times.  I do not have a lot of space in my apartment so I dry more than I use to.

My pullover is from Brooks.  It is a running shirt my brother got me for Christmas probably 5-6 years ago.  I like it because it is light weight and gray. I like pullovers because they can be wore with so many different colors.  It does have the thumb holes.  When I golf I do not typically use the thumb holes.  Sometimes in the cold weather I do but I do not swing with my thumb through the hole.  The shirt is a great layering piece.  I like it in colder weather, too.  I can wear it under a vest or a golf jacket.  Brooks pullovers start at about $50. Brooks has great quality products but you will pay for them.  I would typically not buy this on my own.  But it was a great gift and one that is used often.  In addition, the pullover looks brand new.  Bonus because it is for running, it has pockets!!!

Tomorrow is another day on the links.  I will post my look tomorrow.  The weather will be great...70s and sunny.  May see some leg.😵

Golf in the New Age

I am a Pennsylvania golfer.  Tomorrow is my first day back golfing in what feels like a year.  March and April were a year, right? It has been since March 18, 2020 since I played golf and I am wondering if golf fashion is still the same. I feel like I am 20 pounds heavier after the mandatory hiatus.  Will my clothes still fit?  Are collars mandatory?  What is appropriate?  Joggers, leggings still faux pas?

I do not even know if I know what normal clothes are let alone golf clothes.  My wardrobe for the last 40 days has been leggings and sweatpants.  I will be honest some days my bathroom was my fashion for the day.  I am ready for golf but is my body ready for golf clothes?  What am I going to wear?

Tomorrow, for my first day back, it is going to be a tough choice for the outfit. I want to make a statement but the weather looks terrible.  Scattered thunderstorms through the afternoon.  I do not want to get a nice outfit muddy, I want to be comfortable and I need to pack my rain gear. Temperature looks to be about mid 60s.  What should I wear?  I am thinking traditional.  I will probably go with cropped pants and a collared shirt. I will need a pullover because I am always cold.  However, I want to keep it light.

Ahhh...I already feel the stress.  What swing will greet me on the first tee (driving ranges is closed, no warm-ups) and how will I look?

Stay tuned...I will post my new return to the links tomorrow.
