Makes me want a Martini

Golftini was started to help fill the void in the women's golf clothing lines. The owner Susan Hess wanted to create a fun and functional skort appropriate for golf.  Hess drew her inspiration from the martini.  "She set out to do the same thing for golf attire that New York City restaurants have done for the ultra modernized Martini."  Hess hoped to create a fashionable skort for the golf course and for after round drink.  Hess started creating skorts that started to gain popularity and thus the Golftini line.

 From: http://golftiniwear.com/index.cfm

 from: http://golftiniwear.com/index.cfm

First word of warning for Golftini: it does not come cheap like a New York City martini.  Regularly priced skorts in the Spring 2013 collection start at $120.  No golf skort in my opinion is worth $120.  I can find cuter and high quality golf skorts at better prices.  The patterns are unique and come in appropriate lengths.  A nice bonus to Golftini, is skorts are available in different lengths.  This will allow a female golfer to enjoy a skort but be age or body type appropriate.  The patterns and colors gravitate to the pastel and large graphics.  I do appreciate the patterns of Golftini, and the patterns are more mature than GolfHer.  Like GolfHer, Golftini does offer a Junior line.  Again prices are a little expensive starting at $60.  A little too much to pay for a skort that will probably only last one season until the younger golfer out grows it.

Golftini offers a wide variety of apparel from polos, sweaters, and dresses.  A female golf fashion trend that Golftini demonstrates the untucked shirt.  I do not like this look.  I will admit I do wear my shirt untucked sometimes with a skort.  However, I think it looks unkept and messy.  I prefer to see golfers with their shirts tucked in.  I will concede that untuck shirt can be comfortable but I want to see females go back to the tucked in shirt.  This will make the whole outfit look more polished.

I doubt you will ever see Golftini in my closet.  I am not willing to spend $120 on a skort.  However, if someone purchased a Golftini skort or outfit for me I would not turn it down.  The patterns are a little over the top but with a good solid polo, the outfit would be cute on the first tee.

Woods Win and A Classic

If you have the first four letters w-o-o-d in your last name, you had a good weekend.  Tiger Woods won his debut on the 2013 PGA Tour at the Farmers Insurance Open with a -14 total at Torrey Pines.  Woods beat Brandt Snedeker and Josh Teater by four shots on the Monday finish.

 from: yahoo.sports.golf
Woods brought out the normal final round outfit of black pants and red shirt.  Tiger is infamous (we are going to stick with fashion here) for the final round or the "Sunday Red."  The outfit is suppose to invoke fear and intimidation into Tiger's competitors.  The outfit and the play did that and more this weekend.  Tiger was able to win easily and showed dominance of the course.  Tiger wears clothes well.  He has a great athletic body and has clothes impeccably tailored.  Tiger looks good on the course. The cool Pacific Coast weather had Tiger in a black sweater for the round with the red peaking out of the collar.  I like the classic golf look Tiger wore for the final round.  The great sweater goes with the pants and the polo underneath scream golfer.  Nike really goes wrong dressing Tiger.  Other Nike professionals please take note (of Tiger's fashion and play this weekend).

My clothing spotlight today is Kings Cross which provides classic knickers and apparel (http://www.kingscrossknickers.com/).  This clothing company would be like looking into the late Payne Stewart's closet.  Everything brings back nostalgia of a time gone by.  I also have to provide extra applause because they provide classic golf clothes for both men, women, and kids.  Thank you for thinking of us girls.  The store even has the Oxford wingtip golf shoe.  You can look the part of Walter Hagen.  They do not guarantee you to play like Walter Hagen.  Kings Cross also offers the caps, sweaters, polos, dress shirts, and accessories.  Any golfer can dress the part of Ben Hogan.

The best offering of Kings Cross is by far the knickers.  I love the golf knickers.  Anyone who sees knickers automatically thinks golf.  Knickers will forever be associated with golf, and every golfer should play golf in knickers at least once.  All knickers at Kings Cross come in a variety of colors and plaids.  Prices begin at $60 and go up to $85 for a pair of knickers.  Kings Cross is on the pricey side for all items.  An Ashton Tie will set you back $70.  To look the part on the golf course you are going to have to pay the price.

I recommend Kings Cross for all golfers.  Clothes are not cheap.  I would have to consider paying for the items but no one offers classic apparel like Kings Cross.  If you want a nice pair of knicker, I 100% recommend Kings Cross.  Round off the outfit with other items to bring down the cost.

Monday Finish

Woods is having a good week in La Jolla, CA.  A Saturday weather delay is causing a Monday finish for the PGA Tour's Farmers Insurance Open for the second time in 2013.  However, all the stops, starts, and long days are not slowing Tiger down.  Woods has a 6 shot lead at -17 going into the last day with 11 holes to finish.  Nick Watney and Brandt Snekeder are tied for second at -11.  Torrey Pines is the site of Tiger's incredible US Open win in 2008.  The positive vibes of the course are coming back.

 From: yahoo.sports.golf

 From: yahoo.sports.golf
Nike is enjoying the play of Tiger and Watney.  Nick Watney is a new Nike player.  Unlike, Rory McIlroy, Watney is transitioning well into the Nike equipment.  Both Watney and Woods had to bundle up on the California coast.  Temperatures stayed cool throughout the long Sunday.  Also, interesting, Tiger did not change into his typical red and black for the last round.  He chose to stay in the same outfit he wore in the morning.  Tiger will typically change into his red and black for all final rounds even when played immediately after the finishing of round 3.  Woods rarely ventures into stripes or patterns.  Tiger likes his solids.  Tiger looked nice and solid for his play Sunday.  A gray cashmere Nike sweater was a must for the cool temperatures.  Watney was more adventurous.  Watney chose plaid pants and a horrible Nike hat.  Please Nike get ride of the large white Nike cap with large swoosh. I hate the fit of this hat.  I have seen this the past couple weeks on the European tour.   The black sweater with a light blue polo finish off Watney's outfit.  I like the the peak of blue through the sweater with the collar.  The light blue polo is a good choice for the pants.

Wood's Win and a Feminine Touch

At least we are assured that there is one Wood win this weekend.  Yes that is Wood without the 's'.  Chris Wood won the Qatar Masters in incredible fashion with an eagle on the last hole.  Wood needed a birdie to tie Sergio Garcia and George Coetzee at -17 but Wood hit his second shot on the par-5 18 to about 15-20 feet.  Wood made the eagle putt with easy for his first European Tour win.

 from: www.europeantour.com

Wood is wear a Mizuno Drylite Needle Golf Shirt and a Druh Belts and Buckles belt.  The Mizuno shirt is moisture wicking shirt allowing for evaporation and dry comfort on the golf course.  The Druh belt is a distinguish looking accessory, and that is exactly what creator Simon Hurd is hoping.  Hurd creates funky and interesting belts to get away from the normal dull and boring golf apparel.  Druh Belts and Buckles can be seen golf tours all across the world.  I am not a huge fan of the large buckle style. I feel this is a style that was popular about 3-5 years ago, and I am glad to see go to the wayside.  I keep try to take the pounds off so I do not understand why we would want to add a bulky belt.  Clothes and shoes are lighter than ever but a belt like Wood's add the weight back to the player.  Druh Belts and Buckles will set you back about $25-$50 depending on the style you choose.  The belts allow you to be patriotic by offering several country's flags.  I understand the want to be stylish and get away from the dull golf look but I will do it a different way.  I do not need or want to wear a large belt.

I have not talked a lot, or at all about women's fashion.  You would think that being a female golfer who loves clothes, that all I would talk about is women's golf apparel.  However, I think women's golf apparel is poor, and is limited.  Today, I am going to profile a new women's golf apparel line called GolfHer.  The company was started in 2011 by Sarah Schultz, who loves to look good on the first tee.  Schultz makes her clothes golf appropriate with the best fabric and functional and deep pockets.  Good pockets are must for every golfer to hold tees, golf balls, scorecards, ball markers, Chapstick, etc.  GolfHer apparel is available to all females golfers and even offers a junior line.  The Spring 2013 look book is available for viewing and features a lot of skorts and pastel patterns.  It definitely leans to the preppy resort style apparel.  I personally find the line a little childish in the fabric choices and the apparel's cut.  All the Spring 2013 outfits have a pattern.  I do like patterns but I also want to see solids or solids with a pattern piece.  The shirts and bottoms have matching patterns.  I would also like to see more closely and fitted cuts in the women's line.  A great appreciation of the female form needs to be seen in the clothes. I love that GolfHer is starting and bring more choices to the female golfer.  I also see a lot of potential in the junior's line.  The fabric and cuts are age appropriate and perfect for the young golfer.  The women's line needs to combine the preppy outfits with mixture maturity and modern design.  I also would like to see the mix and match pieces.  All pieces look to only work with one outfit.  Yes you can mix and match, but I want to see that in the collection.

You Stole My Look

 From:www.europeantour.com

 From:www.europeantour.com

Yesterday I talked about the Adidas Adizero shoes.  Today we are examine  to the Adizero Tour Golf Polo.  Adidas is encouraging all of their tour professionals wearing the Adizero polos this spring.  Garcia and Fraser have been seen in the Adizero polo all week at the Qatar Masters.  Garcia and Fraser got the same memo from Adidas.  Dustin Johnson and Jason Day have been wearing the same shirts at the Farmers Insurance Open.  I like the technology behind the shirts.  Light weight, high flexibility, and stretch.  They shirt also has large ventilation areas in key areas like the arm pits.  The the holes are noticeable which I find weird.  The arm pits have noticeable ventilation holes.  The pros are now less likely to be "pitting out".  No visible under arm sweat.  More pleasurable viewing for the audience: no more look at them sweating.  A final note on the Adizero polo is the no sew seams.  The shirt is made with extreme comfort in mind.  Note to Adidas: I know you want to get the shirts a lot of viewing coverage by having all your athletes wearing the new technology.  However, lets try to vary when they wear which shirts.  Today was Twin Day at the Qatar Masters with Garcia and Fraser.  Lets stay away from high spirit days.   Check out the new Adizero Golf Polos here: Adizero Polo

At the Farmer's Insurance Open, the players were donning the always fashionable rain suits.  Rain suits all look the same: pant and jacket in dark colors.  When it comes to rain suits water protection is vital.  I also recommend finding a comfortable cut for your body.  Charles Howell III is wearing a great example of typical rain gear.  I recommend looking for a jacket with a zipper and velcro adjustments on the wrists.  Jackets need to have flexibility but provide rain protection.  I like a rain pant that can be pulled easily on and off. Some pants have pocket opening to your regular pants while others have their own pockets.  I prefer the rain pant with the built-in pocket.  I want to keep my underneath clothing as dry as possible.   My rain suit is by Nike. Check out Nike's Men's Rain Suit and Women's Rain Suit.  Nike's suits have zippers on all the pockets.  Great for keeping your things try especially scorecards.  Mine is about four or five years old.  Rain suits are typically very durable and can last several seasons if properly cared.  Plus the fashion style is not likely to change soon.

Pretty Boys

Brandt Snedeker
 From: www.sports.yahoo.com/golf/photos

All of the pretty boys are stepping up their games this week.  Not only are they playing well but are looking good doing it.  All five men are leading their respective tournaments.  Snedeker is tied for the lead with K.J. Choi at the Farmer Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.  Garcia, Kaymer, Fraser, and Santos are second round leaders at the Qatar Masters.

Garcia and Fraser are starting off the year in the 2013 line of Adidas.  Garcia chose the modern shirt with more geometric diagonal stripes in black.  Fraser chose the safe horizontal stripes.  Both supported hats advertising the new Adizero golf shoes.  The Adizero shoes are the lightest in the company's history.  True to Adidas form the shoes will be both offered in bright and traditional golf colors (tan, black, white).  I hope to try out the new Adidas shoe.  I have only positive things to stay about Adidas golf shoes.  I have a lot of trouble with shoes because of problems with my feet, but Adidas have always felt great on my feet.  The Adidas shoes are comfort and stylish.  The shoes offer great flexibility and the lining typically have a cotton blend instead of the canvas.  The canvas linings tear my feet are a part and give me difficulty.  Adidas has never done this to the lining plus the shoe is waterproof.  A waterproof shoe is a must with golf because weather and dew.  Water is everywhere. Great article about the new shoes: Adidas Adizero

Santos stayed true to the stripes for a second day.  Why change something when it worked so well the first day.  Kaymer pulled out his inner Woods with the black pants and red polo.  Kaymer wear clothes well.  Being sponsored by Boss by Hugo Boss does not hurt a guy's look.  Strongly tailored in the in classic lines of Hugo Boss.  Kaymer plays the role of pretty boy well.

Finally, Snedeker, also is wearing some of the Adidas.  Snedeker likes solids and muted colors.  To start the 2013 season, Snedeker is staying true to form on the course and with his style.  I love the cashmere blue sweater.  Looks nice, comfy, and warm for the cool Pacific coast.  Nice look Snedeker.

Winter Chill

Much of the country is dealing with freezing temperatures.  Todays high in Johnstown was a balmy 14 degrees.  Not the best golf weather. Makes me wish for warmer temperature and blue skis.  The deep freeze looks to continue through the weekend so I will have to get my golf fix by watching the professionals.

The European Tour had a Wednesday start this week in Qatar at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.  Since the start was at 3am or something like that EST, and I was at work for the replay, I did not get to check out a lot of the fashion choices.  When watching the highlights I did get to see the leader Ricardo Santos.
 From: www.europeantour.com
The outfit is fine.  I am a huge fan of stripes and I love blue stripes.  I just think blue looks good on the course and translates well on television.  Plus stripes to me is a quintessential golf.  Everyone should have a good striped golf shirt in the closet.  Plus stripes is an easy way to add color in any outfit.  Plus you can usually wear stripe shirts with khaki or white shorts or pants.  I know most golfers are overloaded with khaki bottoms.  Break a way from the solid color shirts and add some interest with strips.

Tomorrow starts the Show Days of the PGA Merchandise Show.  Over the next couple of weeks I am going to explore some of the 2013 golf clothing and shoe collections.  But today I want to talk about one of the vendors that will be at the show: Insta Golf (http://instagolf.net/).  I was exploring the vendors at this year's show, and came across this gem.  The company states: "Transform any shoe into a high performance golf shoe."  Insta Golf is like a shoe glove with golf spikes you can put on any one of your sneakers.  I can not speak to the design or fit of the Insta Golf shoe.  You can get Insta Golf in a multitude of colors.  Insta Golf shoes are approximately $40.  I recommend spending the $40 on an actual pair of golf shoes; you will guarantee fit and comfort.  A changeable sole will never be the same as an actual shoe.  Plus if you wait to the end of the season (fall, early winter), golf shoes go on sale.  I buy most of my golf shoes at this time, and I easily spend less than forty dollars per shoe on top named brands.

Show Time

The PGA Merchandise Show begins tomorrow with Demo Day.  The Show Days are Friday and Saturday in Orlando, FL.  I am excited to see what the major and minor golf fashion brands are showing this year.  I am especially interested to see Ian Poulters, IJP Design launch of a women's line.  This weekend Ian gave the twitter world a sneak peak of the line.
From: https://twitter.com/IanJamesPoulter

True to Poulter fashion, the trousers are typical tartan (or plaid to us Americans).  Ian's motto this year is Wear The Pants.  He is trying to get golfers away from the same old khaki and single colored pant.  I enjoy this look he sneaked to the twitter world.  One of my favorite colors is navy blue.  I love the blue focused tartan with the blue polo.  Keep up the good work Ian Poulter.  You are a great addition to the golf fashion world.

Brian Gay Winner: Worst Dressed

From: www.sports.yahoo.com
From: wpxi.com
From: bigstory.ap.org

I did not think one picture Brian Gay's monstrosity of an outfit was enough.  I decided to give you three.  I  had a hard time watching Brian pull out a playoff win in the Humana Challenge yesterday because of all the ridiculous colors.  The whole outfit is tacky and makes me wonder who would let anyone out the door with this on?  Gay's outfit is from Sligo, and Sligo is one of Gay's partners:  http://www.sligowear.com/. Unfortunately, Gay's outfit is typically of the Sligo collection.  Even if you are not playing well, you are going to stand out no matter what.  Sligo's apparel is full of loud, bright colors, and Sligo will typically put as many colors as possible in one outfit.  The orange is what I dislike the most.  I understand the shirt is trying to pull the small orange detailing of the plaid but there really is no need.  I would like the plaid if the orange was gone.  I like the orange shirt but not with the outfit.  The whole outfit is overwhelming.  Tone it down Gay.

Abu Dhabi Winner

Jamie Donaldson was able to overcome a two shot deficit, and three putt bogey on the 18th for a one shot win over Justin Rose and Thorbjørn Olesen.  Both Olesen and Rose had a chance at birdie on 18 to force a playoff but Olesen's slid by and Rose's lipped out.  The win in Abu Dhabi is Donaldson's second European Tour win.

Before we look at the winner's fashion choices for the week, we have to examine Rose's Sunday apparel.
From: www.europeantour.com
This could be one of the best outfits of the week but it fails miserably because of the pants.  First the good news: the shirt.  Block coloring is popular and in.  Rose's Ashbury polo shirt is a great example of block coloring.  I like that Rose took a popular fashion trend and brought it to the golf course.  The block coloring has great contrasts with the fuchsia top color with the gray/brown bottom.  The white stripe in the middle connects the two colors strongly.  Also, the white connects the white embroidery of the sponsors.  However, the pants are all wrong.  It is too much gray/brown.  Plus the pants do not match the gray/brown of the shirt.  I wish he chose a white pant.  The white is so minimal in the shirt that a white pant would connect the shirt with the pant.  Also, a white pant would allow for the other colors to stand out.

Now time to look at the winner: Jamie Donaldson

Thursday

This week Donaldson's go to look was the white pant.  White in the desert is a good chose, plus white can do with everything.  The first three rounds Donaldson went with the typical cut golf polo.  He also did not shy way from color.  The color choice for the shirts was strong.  Green seems to be popular choice this year, which Donaldson sported Saturday.  I have been seeing a lot of bright greens so far this year and we are only three weeks into the season.   I like Donaldson's green because it is bright but not too bright to hurt my eyes.  My favorite shirt of Donaldson's week is the Sunday zip up.  The zipper adds a modern twist to the classic golf polo.  Donaldson is able to keep the classic golf look but bring it up to date with a simple zipper.  The Sunday look shows golf clothes do not need a lot of bells and whistles to be in style and look good.

Like the 2012 season, the 2013 is shaping up to be a season with a lot of color.  The 80s style neon colors is hanging on.  I like the unique bright colors but I do not need a whole outfit of bright colors.  I think the colors should be seen in one statement piece, preferably the shirt.  I do not like overly bright color in pants because that is a lot of fabric with a lot of color.  In addition, bright color pants only work on certain body types: athletic and slimmer hips.  The neon pants can be just a whole lot of trouble. When adding neon/bright color I suggest subtle stripes (you can do thin or thick stripe), block coloring, or a unique geometrical pattern.  Sometimes players go overboard with color.  Ricky Fowler is one who sometimes goes to far.

Saturday: Moving Day

Commentators always call Saturday moving day.  Some players are getting ready for their weekend pushes for the fancy hardware, while others are going home to mend their wounds.  Rory and Tiger were able to add an extra two days of practice.  Rory needs to figure out the putter.  Three words for you Rory: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.  You were not very good at the Nike or Titleist flatstick. Tiger buy yourself a rulebook.  Some light reading may help you out next week.

The players who have made the cut, it is now time to get in line to make a nice paycheck.  Another bonus of making the cut, is wearing another fabulous outfit.  Some players use Saturday's moving day to take a fashion risk.  It maybe time to add a little color, try a new hat, or change up the shoes.  I like to see it all: give me color, pattern, accessories, and try something new.  I can't wait to see what is ahead this weekend in the world of golf fashion.

Now lets take a look at some of the outfits of yesterdays rounds.

First to Abu Dhabi.  A little a head of us here in the States, the European Tour just finished up the third round.  Justin Rose is two ahead going into the last day.  Nothing special with his outfit. Nice carolina blue shirt with light slate color pant.  Rose always puts a nice outfit together.  Typical basic golf style that anyone can wear.

From: http://www.europeantour.com/

Now lets look at some of the more unique styles that were seen in the deserts of Abu Dhabi.  Up first is Thongchai Jaidee.  The first Thai golfer to win an European tour event, always looks flawless on the course.  Jaidee picks clothes that are always visually interesting but never over the top.  I love the white and black ensemble he chose for the third round.  The asymmetrical stripping adds a unique pattern to a typical white shirt.  Jaidee is also known for wearing visors that fit the whole outfit.  A great example of a well thought of outfit that takes the typical black and white to a new level.
From: http://www.europeantour.com/

Next we are going to look at Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño. A Spanish golfer who's name never fits entirely onto his caddie's bib.  I like to call him Gonzalo because that is a great name and it is the shortest of all his amazing names.  Gonzalo is a great example of have someone who has signature pieces.  First is the high top visor.  It reminds me of the visors that Paul Azinger wore at the height of his career.  The visors go back to the late eighties and early nineties.  I like the retro visor with the nice flowing hair.  If you have beautiful locks, you should show them off.  The second signature piece is not really a piece of clothing but the popped collar.  Gonzalo always has the popped collar.  I am not sure his reasoning for the collar pop but it has to be a great way to prevent sunburn on the back of your neck.
From: http://www.europeantour.com/
Final player in the Abu Dhabi round up is Thorbjørn Olesen.  The guy is young, 23, so he can definitely get away with wearing pastel pants.  I also like that he has a unique color pant with a plain white shirt.  He does not overload the outfit but keeps it simple.  However, what is with his hat?  It looks like modified bucket hat that was turned into a baseball hat.  Also, is it suppose to be flat brim or the norm curved brim? The swoosh is too big.  This picture minimizes the swoosh but I in other pictures I found the swoosh obnoxious.  Olesen please pick a better hat, and one that fits your head a little better.

From: http://www.europeantour.com/

Now on to the PGA Tour, where the pros are enjoying the Palm Springs area at the Humana Challenge.  The Humana Challenge is a pro-am format that is formerly and fondly remembered as the Bob Hope Classic.  The tournament began to struggle so a new sponsor, Humana, stepped in with the help of Bill Clinton.  Pros are paired with amateur players, and they amateurs get at least three days with the pros.  The pros also enjoy a guaranteed three days on three different courses.  The final cut comes Saturday with the final round played at the Palmer Private at PGA West.

Palm Springs area is enjoying great weather.  The nights are cold leading to chilly mornings but the afternoons are warming up quite nicely in the high 70s.  The outfits have been subdued.  Nothing has really stood out.  However, we still have two more rounds to see something new.

First, I am going to look at Matt Kuchar.  I would never consider Kuchar fashion forward. Kuchar typically gravitates to the khaki and white polo shirt style outfit.  However, yesterday I was suprised to see Matt in something bright and unique.  Matt had red pants with a white polo with subtle black stripes.  It was a great departure for Matt.  He looked well put together, and it was nice to see someone wear something other than a simple white shirt with colored pants.  He knew that the shirt needed something but it has to soft and subtle.  Red is a tough color to pull off, golfers need to be fit and trim.  Matt is athletic but not the slimmest guy on tour.  He was able to handle the red very well.  Maybe he is trying to show some hard work in the gym this winter break?  I say kudos: you look good.
From: http://sports.yahoo.com/

My final review for today is Ricky Barnes.  It is nice to see the guy matched his sunglasses to his shirt.  Not often you see yellow frames but Ricky has them.  Maybe he will let you borrow them.  I have Ricky here today because of the hat.  Ricky's hats are definitely his signature piece of clothing.  However, I wish he would pick a new style hat.  The small brim bicycle style hat does not look good on anyone, even cyclist.  I am not a cyclist so I can not talk about its practical use for a cycling but for golf it has no practical use.  The brim cannot be protecting his face from the sun, it barely covers the yellow shades.  (Maybe the sunglasses need protecting?)  I get it is a fashion statement but you did it.  Please move on.

Haut Golf-ture

I love golf. I love clothes. Combine the two you get me. I love playing golf and picking out a cute outfit to wear. Like most woman, I have too many clothes. I love to get dressed up with a new outfit especially on a golf course.

I also like to see what everyone else is wearing on the course. The best place to see what is going on in the golf fashion world is the professional tours.

I am going to lead you into the world of golf fashion or haut golf-ture. Friday-Monday, I will take a look at what the tour professional are wearing. What is good, what is not good, new trends, and trends that should be no where near a golf course. Tuesday-Thursday, I will look at some outfits, provide tips for fashion on and off the course.

Since it is Friday, lets take a look at the players are wearing on the course.

First, is Rory McIlroy. Busy off season chasing after tennis player girlfriend, dodging engagement rumors, and changing sponsors to Nike. Head to toe, putter to driver is Nike. Rory of old, or pre-Nike, stayed pretty subdued in golf scene that has been all about color. Always well tailored, with shirts cut to show of the arms he works so hard at in the gym, Rory looks like the classic gentlemanly golfer. With his Nike debut at Abu Dhabi, Rory's look has changed little. Actually you would assume he was still in Oakley, if it wasn't for the swoosh everywhere. I like Rory's golf style. He never is over the top or look at me with his clothes. His game speaks for him. Simple and clean is a great look for Rory.

Now I want to look at a golfer playing in the good ol' U.S. of A. Ryo Ishikawa is another young golf star. Not a big winner or name like Rory but he has time. The guy is only 21. Ryo's style is the complete opposite of Ryo. Just look at his shirt. Color and pattern is regularly a part of Ryo's outfit. However, he does color and pattern well. He never overwhelms with too much. Usually Ryo picks one statement piece in his outfit. He is able to balance this shirt with black pants and a white belt. Also like Rory, Ryo wears expertly tailored pieces. Ryo takes fashion risks as well as shots on the course. Being young and fit, Ryo does not wrong with his fashion choices.
