At least we are assured that there is one Wood win this weekend. Yes that is Wood without the 's'. Chris Wood won the Qatar Masters in incredible fashion with an eagle on the last hole. Wood needed a birdie to tie Sergio Garcia and George Coetzee at -17 but Wood hit his second shot on the par-5 18 to about 15-20 feet. Wood made the eagle putt with easy for his first European Tour win.
Wood is wear a Mizuno Drylite Needle Golf Shirt and a Druh Belts and Buckles belt. The Mizuno shirt is moisture wicking shirt allowing for evaporation and dry comfort on the golf course. The Druh belt is a distinguish looking accessory, and that is exactly what creator Simon Hurd is hoping. Hurd creates funky and interesting belts to get away from the normal dull and boring golf apparel. Druh Belts and Buckles can be seen golf tours all across the world. I am not a huge fan of the large buckle style. I feel this is a style that was popular about 3-5 years ago, and I am glad to see go to the wayside. I keep try to take the pounds off so I do not understand why we would want to add a bulky belt. Clothes and shoes are lighter than ever but a belt like Wood's add the weight back to the player. Druh Belts and Buckles will set you back about $25-$50 depending on the style you choose. The belts allow you to be patriotic by offering several country's flags. I understand the want to be stylish and get away from the dull golf look but I will do it a different way. I do not need or want to wear a large belt.
I have not talked a lot, or at all about women's fashion. You would think that being a female golfer who loves clothes, that all I would talk about is women's golf apparel. However, I think women's golf apparel is poor, and is limited. Today, I am going to profile a new women's golf apparel line called GolfHer. The company was started in 2011 by Sarah Schultz, who loves to look good on the first tee. Schultz makes her clothes golf appropriate with the best fabric and functional and deep pockets. Good pockets are must for every golfer to hold tees, golf balls, scorecards, ball markers, Chapstick, etc. GolfHer apparel is available to all females golfers and even offers a junior line. The Spring 2013 look book is available for viewing and features a lot of skorts and pastel patterns. It definitely leans to the preppy resort style apparel. I personally find the line a little childish in the fabric choices and the apparel's cut. All the Spring 2013 outfits have a pattern. I do like patterns but I also want to see solids or solids with a pattern piece. The shirts and bottoms have matching patterns. I would also like to see more closely and fitted cuts in the women's line. A great appreciation of the female form needs to be seen in the clothes. I love that GolfHer is starting and bring more choices to the female golfer. I also see a lot of potential in the junior's line. The fabric and cuts are age appropriate and perfect for the young golfer. The women's line needs to combine the preppy outfits with mixture maturity and modern design. I also would like to see the mix and match pieces. All pieces look to only work with one outfit. Yes you can mix and match, but I want to see that in the collection.
